Fifty three weeks of intensive flight training at Randolph Field Texas, the “West Point of the Air”, and NASA pilot proficiency training destination of choice.
Lt. Naisbitt earned his pilots license flying the J-3 Piper Cub. He then built flying time for the next 10 years in several types of aircraft including the Schweitzer 232.

Lieutenant Naisbitt excelled in every aspect of the Talon’s wide range of performance envelopes, from air combat, to near supersonic close formation.
Lt. Naisbitt graduated 4th out of 35 graduates in a class of 74 pilot trainees. Many trainees washed out during close formation training missions.

The T-38A Talon is a twin-engine, high-altitude, supersonic jet trainer used in a variety of roles because of its design, economy of operations, ease of maintenance, high performance and exceptional safety record.
Air Education and Training Command is the primary user of the T-38A for joint specialized undergraduate pilot training.
